DD’s Pigskin Preview: Boston College @ Northwestern

Boston College @ Northwestern: 3:30pm Eastern (BTN)

Line: Northwestern -3 1/2

Last Meeting: 2011 (24-17 Northwestern W)

3 Players to Watch:

1) Venric Mark (RB NU): "Heisman" talk is surrounding this young running back and return man after a huge performance against Vanderbilt. He needs to continue to be a viable running option so that the Wildcats offense is not just a one man show.

2) Chase Rettig (QB BC): Simply put – as Retting goes, so goes Boston College. He's their offense and rightly so as he's a quality quarterback who's 48-83 for 665 yards with 5 touchdowns and 1 interception on the season. He's got to be productive if the Eagles want to avenge the loss from last year.

3) Kain Colter (QB NU): Colter is the best player on the field once again and he needs to show growth at the throwing part of his game. The other question is can his shoulder hold up and allow him to be a 1,2 punch in the rushing attack with Mark?

Final Analysis:

Northwestern is in the final of three straight games against other BCS conference foes and they've won the first two. However, there are questions about whether or not the first two games have taken a toll mentally and physically on this team.

The defense held up well against Vandy at home last week and they must do so again this week if they are to hold down the Eagles at Ryan Field. I expect this game to be close just like last year as these two teams are so equally matched, however the edge goes to the home team and I expect them to more than cover the spread as well.

My Pick: Northwestern 28, Boston College 20

Rest of Staff's Picks:

Nate: Northwestern 28, Boston College 24

Kevin: Northwestern 24, Boston College 20

Cole: Northwestern 27, Boston College 20
