Big Ten Basketball Power Poll: Week 13

After a week off for national signing day coverage we are back with the Big Ten basketball Power Poll and as the saying goes – the more things change, the more they stay the same – and that's about as accurate of a discription of the Big Ten as you can get this year.

Indiana and Michigan have both spent time at the No. 1 spot in the national polls since we last left you and a lot of crazy finishes have greeted us as fans of the Big Ten. Who will ever forget the Indiana vs. Michigan finish, the Illini upset of Indiana with 0.9 seconds left, or the buzzer-beating thriller in Madison? Those all happened in the past week alone.

So, with that, where did our panel see things shaking down? Well, it is one of the most intriguing of polls we've had all season.

If you need a reminder, here is the panel of Big Ten bloggers we've assembled for this poll:

Tom - The Daily Gopher (Minnesota) (@TheDailyGopher)

David McGee - CornNation (Nebraska) – (@CornNation)

Joe Dexter - The Buckeye Battle Cry (Ohio State) – (@joedexter)

Let's get into this week's poll shall we?

Place School (1st place votes) Points Last Week Point Change
1 Indiana (8) 107 2 7
2 Michigan State (1) 94 3 6
3 Michigan  91 1 -15
4 Wisconsin 83 5 10
5 Ohio State 75 4 -7
6 Minnesota 59 6 -3
7 Illinois 52 9 19
8 Purdue 43 7 -9
9 Iowa 42 8 -1
10 Northwestern 29 10 -3
11 Nebraska 18 11 -4
12 Penn State 9 12 0

Notes from the Poll:

- Michigan State picks up it's first 1st place votes in three weeks (our week 10 poll) and make their first march into the top 2 of the poll all season long.

- Wisconsin makes it's first appearance in the Top 4 of the poll all season long as well following OT wins vs. Iowa and Michigan this week, interestingly the Badgers have the most wins over Top 25 opponents in Big Ten play with four.

- For the first time all season the bottom two were the same for every poll out there – Nebraska getting all 11th place votes and Penn State with all 12th place votes (as has been the case for weeks now for PSU).

- Illinois was the most volitile team in this week's poll as they were voted as low as 10th and as high 6th in the ballots this week.

Make sure you check back throughout the week as we give you the most in-depth coverage of Big Ten basketball and follow our coverage via Twitter @TheB1GTime.
