Big Ten Basketball Power Poll: Week 8

Power_Poll.png

After a few weeks off for the holiday's it's time to get back to the grind and that means a brand new Big Ten bloggers basketball power poll. Especially since we are two games deep for every Big Ten team. There's been some awesome games and frankly some teams seperating themselves from the crowd already. Who are they? Well, that's what our group of bloggers are here to decide.

We've gathered a group of the brightest minds to come up with our weekly power poll. Most weeks it's the nine best bloggers from across the Big Ten blogosphere, however this week we are down to just eight. So, here are our panelists this week:

Andy Coppens - The B1G Time/ MadTown Badgers (Wisconsin) (@andycoppens)

Will Nahikian - The B1G Time MSU contributor (@TheB1GTimeMSU)

Robert A Lion Eye (Illinois) (@ALionEye)

Ross WB - Black Heart Gold Pants (Iowa) (@BHGP & @RossWB)

Brad Muckenthaler - Maize N Blue Nation (Michigan) (@MaizeBlueNation)

Ace Anbender - MGoBlog (Michigan) (@aceanbender) *did not vote this week

Tom - The Daily Gopher (Minnesota) (@TheDailyGopher)

David McGee - CornNation (Nebraska) – (@CornNation)

Joe Dexter - The Buckey Battle Cry (Ohio State) – (@joedexter)

So, without further ado… Let's see where we have the Big Ten standing after just 2 games in conference play!!

Place School (1st place votes) Points Last Week
1 Michigan (6) 94 1
2 Indiana (2) 90 2
3 Minnesota 78 6
4 Illinois 71 4
5 Ohio State 64 3
6 Michigan State 59 5
7 Wisconsin 46 7 (tie)
8 Iowa 39 7 (tie)
9 Purdue 30 11 (tie)
10 Northwestern 28 9
11 Penn State 14 11 (tie)
12 Nebraska 11 10

It appears that our panel loves what Michigan has done, but also seems to think Indiana may end up being a big time contender as well. However, it also appears people aren't buying into the defensive juggernaut that is Wisconisn – maybe that's because they've gotten lucky in playing Penn State and Nebraska?

No matter what we're on the upslope of what's sure to be a crazy rollercoaster ride in the Big Ten this season.
