Wes Lunt choses Illini as new home

Wes Lunt and the Illini – it was a marriage (in Lunt's case his 2nd) that was long rumored to be happening, but news broke earlier on Monday that he will indeed join the Orange and Navy under Tim Beckman.

Lunt is no slouch, throwing for 1,108 yards (61.8% comp.) and 6 TD's to 7INT's, but appeared to have lost or was at least losing his grip on the No. 1 job at Oklahoma State this spring and chose to transfer. This could be a massive boost to an Illini squad looking that will be looking for a QB to replace Nathan Scheelhaase next season and one that could really help in the offense that current OC Bill Cubbit loves to run.

He will have three years of eligibility after sitting out this season, so that is massive for an Illini squad searching for it's new offensive identity – one that Lunt can learn under for a full year before taking the field. It also ends one of the uglier transfers in recent history as Lunt was restricted from transferring to a ton of schools (37 to be exact). What was a battle between Louisville and Illinois is no longer.
