Michigan State @ Iowa: Three Keys to the game

1. Spartan Post Offense: In his last two games Derrick Nix has gone 8-23 and has continued to struggle on the short shots. Michigan State’s other big man Adreian Payne has also struggled lately going 2-9 in the last two games. They must improve their scoring touch down low against the Hawkeyes if Tom Izzo and co. hope to get the road victory.

2. Dawson v. Marble: Roy Devyn Marble has been struggling his past two games while having to play Indiana and Michigan. He missed 13 of his first 14 shots against Indiana and put together a decent 4 for 9 day against Michigan. Marble has averaged 15.5 per game and will certainly look to improve off of his game against Michigan. Dawson had been struggling, but put together a nice game against Purdue scoring 14 and rebounding 11 for his second double-double of the season. It came with some controversy as Dawson was accused by Purdue fans of punching Travis Carrol, but those accusations died soon after the tape had been reviewed. This will be a key-matchup within the game, and should be a fun one to watch.

3. Spartan Scorers: Gary Harris had a career game against Purdue, scoring a season-high 22 points while also adding 1 rebound, 1 steal and 2 assists. He must continue on his hot shooting streak, but he cannot do it alone. Keith Appling has become a bit too unselfish in my opinion. Appling only took 6 shots against Purdue, scoring six while dishing out 8 assists. The assists are nice, but Appling can score and will be needed to score for this team to win. The transformation from a shooter to point guard is fantastic; Keith has done an amazing job. I am just asking for some of that selfishness back, he must score for the Spartans to win.
