Gophers getting into the facilities arms race too

Norwood Teague isn't playing in the little leagues anymore. After getting TCF Bank stadium built the AD at Minnesota is now stepping up the overall facility game for his Gophers program as he announced a new facilities master plan on Wednesday afternoon.

In total the project is expect to cost about $190 million dollars and includes several upgrades for both the football and basketball teams – things badly needed to get into this century and up their ability to attract recruits. Teague also announced that the $190 million dollar total will all be privately funded and has a 6-8 year target period to get all the money together.

However, there are major "phase one" projects that will get underway as soon as minimum fundraising is done and those include the following:

Academic Center, Training Table, Football Complex, Women’s Gymnastics Facility, Olympic Sport Indoor Practice Facility, Outdoor Olympic Sport Track, Men’s/Women’s Basketball Practice Facility, and a Wrestling Training Facility

So, naturally any announcement of a facilities master plan has to include some pictures, right? Bet that's what you've been waiting for all along, huh? Well here they are in all their glory: (h/t to GopherHole.com for the pics btw)
