The Big 10 conference will have quite a showcase in the NCAA Tournament, as we watched the selection committee pick seven teams from the conference to play in the NCAA Tournament. The Big 10 conference was tied with the Big 12 conference with the most bids.
The conference received bids for Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan State, Purdue, Ohio State, Iowa and Indiana. Wisconsin received the No. 1 seed for the West Region and will be joined by Ohio State with a No. 10 seed. Maryland is the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region, along with Purdue (9) and Indiana (10). The East Region has Michigan State has a No. 7 seed, and the South Region has Iowa as a No. 7 seed.
Assuming there won’t be upsets up and down each region, Wisconsin and Ohio State’s toughest competition will come against Oregon, Oklahoma State, North Carolina or Arizona. The teams in the Midwest Region have to worry about Kentucky. If things go as planned, Michigan State will have a second round matchup against No. 2 seeded Virginia, which could be the most competitive second round game in the whole tournament. Finally, Iowa has to win against some combination of Gonzaga, Iowa State, Georgetown, Utah or Duke to make a deep run in the tournament.
